Project E-QUAL is funded to around one million Euros by the European Union under its programme "Support to Indo-European Interactions on Higher Education”. The Delegation of the European Union in India is at the centre of a vibrant and multi-faceted relationship that links the EU and India and is constantly working to deepen and broaden political, cultural and educational ties between India and the region.

The EU Delegation hopes make people and cultures meet, by sponsoring academic, cultural and media exchanges between India and the EU in order to broaden the strictly institutional spectrum of EU-India relations by adding a people-to-people dimension. Apart from Project E-QUAL, an exciting and popular education initiative promoted by the European Union is Erasmus Mundus (now Erasmus Plus, please see: ), an international student and researcher mobility programme. Between 2004 and 2013, nearly 4000 Indian students have been awarded scholarships of varying durations under this programme. Project E-QUAL will establish greater cooperation and knowledge exchange between higher education institutions and enhance the quality, access and governance of undergraduate education through a consortium of collaborative university partnerships.
